Congrats Grad!

Hi everyone! Last week I showed a post of the graduation shadowbox I created.  Well today I have the card I made to go along with it!

I kept the black, purple, white and silver color scheme to match the school colors and embossed the background for some nice texture.  I added lots of stars in different sizes for the excitement of the big day.  The 'Congrats' stamp from RaisinBoat is embossed in black and popped off the background a bit.

I made this card to enclose a bit of cash (every grads favorite gift!) and kept the sentiment, also from RaisinBoat, simple and to the point.  More embossing, lots of mini stars and a space for a personal message and this card is complete!

Mother's Day Take 2!

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing the rest of the Mother's Day items I created.  Last week I showed you the gift I created for my Grandma and today's cards and gift box are for my Step-Mother, Mother-in-law and my Mom.  They are such beautiful, wonderful ladies and so very important to me.  I love creating special cards just for them and they are always so happy to receive them.

The cards I made for my Step-Mother and Mother-in-law are basically the same design - I just changed up the flower.  I used Papertrey Ink's Rosie Posie step 1 & 2 sets which are very quickly becoming my go-to favorite.  All of the flower images are so gorgeous and the second step adds so much dimension.  I also used all of the coordinating dies to cut out these beauties.

For my lovely Step-Mother, I used the Rose image in pinks and reds.  Hers had to be mailed so all of the images and dies had to stay within the card size.

My beautiful Mother-in-law got the Posie image on her card also in pinks and reds.  I added a few crystals and let her leaves hang off the edge as I would be hand delivering hers.

Lastly is a small pillow box I created for the best mother in the world, my Mom.  I covered the pillow box with chevrons and poppies in her favorite color, purple.  I also added a big splashy purple poppy (don't know if there is such a thing) and a beautiful tag.  I supported the retail card companies this year and actually bought my Mom a card because it was just too sweet to resist.  That is why there is no handcrafted creation for my Mom.  There is always next year...

Hope you enjoyed my Mother's Day creations.  Thanks for checking out my blog!  Bee Happy!!

Graduation Shadowbox!

Hi everyone! I'm hosting Mixed Media Monday today at the Paper Wings Productions blog, The Aviary, so please check it out.

It's graduation season and today I have the perfect gift for this high school rite of passage. I will be attending a special young lady's graduation in a few weeks and I wanted to create a memento to help her remember this special day.  Not that she is likely to ever forget the final day of mind numbing classes, bad lunches, crazy teachers..... but hopefully this little gift will help!

I purchased the shadowbox at Archivers and left it black as it is one of her schools colors. I took her graduation announcement and cut it up to use as decoration in some of the boxes and then combined them with fabulous Paper Wings Productions stamps.

The largest box has a gorgeous damask background from the Backgrounds Cling stamp set that I also embossed with a few flourishes from Flourish Fun One in glossy black.  It also features a sweet little banner embossed in silver and colored with Copic Markers and some poms from Happy Day stamped in lilac.  I added in a grad cap cut with my Cricut and some painted and glitter misted stars. The perfect sentiment is from the Earth & Sky set.

I wanted to showcase her school logo cut directly from the announcement.  I only added a couple of stamped flourishes from the Flourish Fun One set. I had to girly this box up so I added some rolled flowers on a background of silver and purple confetti from Happy Day.

The final box again features more of the pretty poms embossed in silver and colored in shades of purple and more flourishes.  Plus a few clear crystals for a bit of bling!

I hope you enjoyed my Mixed Media Monday project and that it inspires you to create handcrafted gifts for the grads in your life. Please visit the Paper Wings Productions store for these fabulous stamps and more and check out the
beautiful PWP blog, The Aviary and see what our other great designers have created!

Mother's Day gift for Grandma!

Hi everyone!  I know Mother's day has passed but I had to wait to post these pics in case some special ladies saw them before they received them! I will actually have a couple of posts because this first one has a lot of pictures so I hope you enjoy the show.

I created this card box and a collection of cards for my Grandma's Mother's Day gift.  Funny story though- as I was getting this post ready, editing all of the card pictures I suddenly realized I never took a picture of her actual Mother's Day card!!  OMG I couldn't believe I had forgotten that very important picture. Plus, it was a beautiful card featuring Quilters Sampler from Paper Trey Ink, a thread card and a darling hat pin.  Oh well, I will have to ask my Grandma to take a picture of it, send it to me and I will post it at a later time:)

My Grandma is one of my biggest fans so I love to create cards for her.  In fact, when she received her gift and had admired her collection of handmade goodies she commented that she wanted to keep all of them and not give any out to her friends!  Love her!

The gorgeous card holder I created from a tutorial on Split Coast Stampers using the beautiful  'Greenhouse Gala' paper from Stampin Up!  The flower closure on the front was created with lots of PaperTrey Ink flower dies.  I first cut them out then spritzed them with water and crinkled them all up.  Once dry, I unfolded them and stacked them together with a brad in the center.  Beautiful!  This box is big enough to hold 10 cards and envelopes but it is snug.  I did add a layer of chipboard onto the bottom to help with the weight.

This is the whole collection of cards that I included.  Some Birthday, some Hello and a couple of Get Well - I had so much fun creating all of these.  Below are my favorites.......

A sweet Thank You card featuring PTI's special Funky Floral stamp set and Notched Flower and Framed Out #1 dies.  The polka dotted paper is also from PTI and the leaves are from MFT Dienamics Royal Leaves.

This Get well card uses some stamps from PTI's Quilters Sampler and some cute paper from Echo Park.  Love the rulers in the background- perfect for the sewing theme!

I used the new and never inked Pretty Poppies stamp set and Poppies & Leaves dies from My Favorite things to create this Thinking of You card. I colored in the centers of the poppies with a black marker and added some liquid pearls.

These last two cards feature fun stamps and dies from Verve.  The top card uses the Notebook Paper stamp and die and the Making a Statement stamp set and coordinating Rounded Scallop Frame and Loopy Blooms Die.  On the bottom card, I stamped the coffee cup image from the Better With You set and paper pieced it together along with some glittery steam.

Oh how I wish I could show you all of the cards I gave her but then this post would go on forever and you would just get bored!  Believe me they were all so beautiful (tooting my own horn a bit, ha ha) and I know she will love them all.  Hopefully her friends will receive a few too!
