Hi everyone! We woke up yesterday morning to more snow so I was definitely in the mood to create in bright and vivid colors! Luckily for me, the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Challenge #210 was all-out bright too!
The actual challenge was to soften a too bright (is there such a thing!) or bold background using vellum. While I will probably never tone down anything colorful, I do love the softness that vellum adds to a project. In fact, I was so inspired that I created three cards!
The first, and my personal favorite, was stamped in bold pink and black Rosie Posie flowers on a white background. I simply added a decoratively edged panel of vellum overlaying these gorgeous blooms and added a bright pink bow with a tag!
I wanted to stay with the color and black theme so I used a graphic image from the Rosie Posie set to create this stunning honeycomb card! I actually adored the styling of the Ikat card Lizzie created for the challenge so much that I copied it! I added a full cover of vellum and added in a accent flower and ribbon.
For the last card, I used the small rose image from the set to create the background, this time in a striking yellow and black combo. A smaller panel of vellum was embossed in swiss dots and scalloped on the edge before I adhered it. Tiny bows and gems complete the look!
Thanks for checking out my blog! Bee Happy!!
Supplies Used:
Grafix Vellum
Ribbon: Offray, Ribbon Fx
Stampin' Up scallop border punch
Cuttlebug embossing folder
What a fantastic idea!! I actually need to do a vellum project, this gives me all sorts of ideas!! Great work!

ReplyDeleteTara, your cards are ALL fabulous! You simply took the Rosie Posie set to a new level! I love the shot of them all together, different but set-like. Love them!
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, and wow! All three are beautiful. And I think you've answered my wish for a replacement for my almost-empty bright red embossing powder!

Wow, you took this tutorial to heart! Love all three cards you did and the vellum is perfect for placing a sentiment when the card is filled with such gorgeous color and images!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards.
ReplyDeleteWOW...you went to town and all 3 cards are fantastic Tara! Love all the little details you added to each of your cards to make them stand out...lovely, lovely cards! :0)
ReplyDeleteI saw this technique over at PTI and was anxious to see some examples. And wow! You nailed all three of these! I loved seeing the technique on so many different types of cards. I thought the patterns you chose were perfect for "softening" and I really like how each one is totally unique even though they share the same concept. I can't pick a favorite, but I thought you really did a banner job on each one and I loved seeing the different details on each. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
ReplyDeleteThese are all stunning! Love how you used black details on your colorful flowers. These are all fabulous!
