Let Life Surprise You!

Hi everyone! It's funny how CAS cards take a lot of supplies sometimes! The card I have for you today is exactly like that! Lots of supplies and lots of steps involved- but it looks pretty so oh well....

I created this card for the Color Throwdown Challenge #440 and went with a floral theme since there was green in the color scheme. Always a good excuse to create with flowers! I knew I wanted to layer a flower die cut over a scallop circle frame so I cut that first into a white card base. My first try was to fill the open circle with an ink blended background but I wasn't so happy with it. I looked through my stash of patterned paper and found this bold pattern in bright yellow and green that would be perfect!

Once I completed the background, I die cut the pretty daisy image, stamped it in Memento Ink and then colored it with Copic markers in the challenge colors! There are two additional die cuts behind the colored one for added thickness! After laying it all out onto the card base and placing where my sequins would go, I decided to add in a subtle shimmer with some glitter embossed stamped images in a few of the corners. Adds just the right amount of detail to the card! I stamped the sentiment in the purple challenge color and added even more glitter to the centers of the daisies!

2017 Monthly Mini: April!

Hi everyone! It's time again for my monthly mini scrapbook series and I have a cute one for you today! This month's mini is a sweet affirmation accordion flip book made with the pretty Simple Stories 'Faith' paper collection! It's full of gorgeous florals, uplifting scriptures and affirmations and the cutest Bits & Pieces!

I chose a bright yellow card stock base which complemented all of the colors in the collection as well as being a bright and happy color. I used an 8.5" x 11" piece of card stock to create the base. You can see the cut line directions in the video below. Then I layered on the gorgeous papers using a lot of the 4x4 and 4x6 elements from the collection!

I embellished each page with an adorable combination of the Bits & Pieces, stickers, chipboard and enamel dots and gave the book a magnetic closure.  The pages, which measure 4.25" square, are still big and open enough so you could stick in a special memento!

Below is a short process video of the putting together of this charming affirmation mini! This sweet book is just the perfect thing to start your day off right!

Succulent Trio!

Hi everyone! I am smitten with these Jane's Doodles Cactus stamps! They are so adorable and versatile! So cute in fact that I had to create three mini cards!

I recently bought the set of Ranger Distress Oxide Ink pads and decided I would use an old technique to create these cards. I stamped all of the cactus images in different green inks and once I was sure they were completely dry, I used rubber cement to cover them before using the oxide inks for color.

I used a square acrylic block and applied two colors of the oxide inks to the square. I sprayed the block with a little water and then pressed down over the stamped/ rubber cement image.

Once the oxide inks were dry I gave each a tiny water spritz and blotted dry so a few water spots would show up. These inks are definitely thicker and more opaque that regular distress inks but have some very nice color! Once everything was dry, I simply peeled away the rubber cement and revealed the stamped image in a sea of color!

I stamped all of the big sentiments in dark black ink so they would really stand out and then added a different embellishment to each little card. I also layered the inked background onto a colorful card base for a nice pop! They are all super cute and a great size for tucking into a small gift!
