New Year, New You....

Hi everyone!  I have a beautiful handcrafted memento to share with you today.  It is also the project for Paper Wings Productions 'Themed Thursday' so I hope you will head over to their blog, The Aviary, and check out all of the details!

Each New Year is always a time for change and improvement of ourselves, our goals, our hopes and wishes. What better way to celebrate those changes than with this beautiful stamp from Paper Wings Productions! While I do make some resolutions, I more often like to give myself inspiration throughout the year and this sentiment will remind me daily of what I want the coming year to bring.

Be Mine!

Hi everyone!  Another sweet Valentine's Day project to show you and this was a super fun one to create.  Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 100th 'Make It Monday' challenge and I could not resist this one!  The challenge this week was how to package cards with oversized embellishments.  The video tutorial has some great ideas on creative packaging so I have included a link to it here

A lot of the cards I make have thick or oversized embellishments or pieces hanging off the sides so this challenge was right up my alley.  Plus I love to combine my cards in coordinating gift sets and this will be perfect for a Valentine's Day treat!

I originally started with a 4 1/2"square card. My oversized embellishments on the card were a large cluster of Notched Flowers cut from my Authentique 'Lovely' paper pad.  I also included some Fancy Flourishes from My Favorite Things and a sentiment banner.   All of these embellishments added an inch to the size of the card and because I flipped up the edges of the flowers and the flourishes, it couldn't go in a flat envelope.  So I created a custom pillow box to fit this adorable card and a small gift!

The finished dimensions of the pillow box are 5 1/2 by 5 1/2" - just perfect for nesting the card! I used a 12 x 12 sheet of white card stock and cut the pillow box to 12" by 9 1/2".  I added score lines at 5 1/2"and 11"  and then curved score lines at 2" on either end. Easy peasy!  I decorated the outside using all Papertrey Ink stamps, more notched flowers and lots of hearts.  I plan on writing the lucky recipients name on the gorgeous new Papertrey Ink label.

I have a dream....

Hi everyone! As most of you know, Martin Luther King, Jr. is having a celebration of his birthday on Monday, January 21.  His actual birthday is January 15 and in honor of this great man I thought I would do a very small tribute to one of his most enduring speeches - 'I Have A Dream'

We all have dreams; the actual sleeping, REM kind of dreams and the hope and desire dreams of our future. This is a small dream journal that I created and it could be used to record either kind of dream, musings or a bit of all.

I started out with a small booklet from 7 Gypsies and painted the chipboard covers with acrylic paint in a soothing turquoise to coordinate with the Basic Grey 'What's Up' and 'Out of Print' paper that I used. All of the stamps used are by Paper Wings Productions. The front of the journal is highlighted with this sweet sentiment from the PWP 'Earth and Sky' stamp set and then accented with lots of stamps from 'Kind Words', 'Details Framer', 'Earth and Sky' and 'Butterfly Panel'.  I added in some colorful gems, a metal accent and the ribbon used is actually from a recent PWP order I received in the mail!

The inside of the cover is also stamped with images from the same sets and I also used the 'Double Dot Border'.  The frame outline would be perfect to write: This Journal belongs to....

Next are some of the pages of the book that are just the right size to write down the most pressing thoughts of the day.  Each has been decorated with all of the same stamps and I added a small tag on each page stamped with a sweet little saying from the very dapper 'Marcel' collection

I hope you enjoyed this dream journal and that it inspires you to create your very own. This post is also the 'Feature Friday' post over at the Paper Wings Productions blog, The Aviary.  Head over there to link up your project and leave us some love.  Have a great weekend and enjoy your MLK, Jr. Day!

Kraftin' Kimmie Guest Krafty Girl!

Hi everyone!  A super short post today just to get this Kraftin' Kimmie creation up and then posted to the Kraftin' Kimmie Blog for the Krafty Guest contest going on right now!

This is actually a card I had already made and you can imagine my delight when I found it in my stash!  All of the white on white elements were there and I just changed up a few things to accomodate the 'metal' requirement for the contest.
I added silver highlights on this cuties' bike with a silver paint pen and then also added a few silver gems on these gorgeous flowers.  Some pink metallic ribbon and some sparkly metallic paper were the finishing touches.  Here's hoping for a guest spot with those super talented Krafty Girls!

We Have Chemistry!

Hi everyone! Valentine's Day is just one month away so I thought I would get started on all of the holiday cards I need to make.

This sweet little card features a My Favorite Things Pure Innocence cutie that I had not inked up yet. This 'PI Scientist' set has some of the cutest sentiments and I thought they would be perfect for Valentine's Day.  I also broke out my new Authentique 'Lovely' paper pad and mixed it with My Mind's eye 'Blush' for an adorable pink and red creation. All of the oval, doily and fishtail banner dies are also from My Favorite Things and I then added some Divine Twine in Black Licorice, lots of Kaisercraft gems, a bit of Stickles 'Diamond' glitter and a tiny pink heart button.

The inside has more fishtail banners and another delightful sentiment from the same set.  Of course I had to add some more gems and the charming scientist is just stamped in outline.  All of the tiny hearts are from the 'Undies in a Bunch' set from Raisin Boat stamps.
Last, but not least, I have some blog candy to give away!    And the winner is...... Rachel!  Rachel, please email me with all of your info and I'll get your Valentine goodies right out to you so you can start using them!

Hey There Cupcake!

Hello everyone!  The New Year always brings birthdays and so I thought I would get a head start on crafting some birthday cards and gifts.  Plus Paper Wings Productions, of which I am a proud designer, has this awesome cupcake stamp set that I couldn't wait to use!

I started out with a large glassine bag and added bright red polka dots which are always a favorite of mine.  Next came some sweet little cupcakes topped off with glitter frosting.  I watch the TV show 'Two Broke Girls' and they always show those delectable cupcakes so I have had a serious craving. I hope using this set cures me for a little while:) The showpiece of this adorable bag is the large cupcake with lots and lots of pink frosting and glitter.

This bag will be perfect for a small card and either a small gift or an appreciated gift card. I actually started the card, shown inside the bag in this picture, but just didn't have time to finish...(darn puppy!)

I will leave you with a close up of the scrumptious cupcake in hopes that it will satisfy your craving for something sweet!  Just a reminder that there are only a few days left to sign up for the blog candy I am giving away to one of my followers.  You can check it out here.

Bonhomie Blog Candy!

Bonhomie: noun \ËŒbä-nÉ™-ˈmÄ“, - a feeling of friendliness among a group of people.

Hi everyone!  I know you are probably wondering about my choice of words in the title but as you read on, you will see it is perfect for my post today!

On Christmas Eve my new neighbor came over to introduce herself AND brought a sweet gift of homemade hot cocoa!  Now, how did she know I love hot chocolate!!  We live in a rural area so she had a little ways to walk and that made her gift extra sweet.  I will be returning the favor with this gorgeous card and a homemade creation of my own- some delectable cookies!

I wanted a bright and cheery card so I used this beautiful paper from the My Mind's Eye 'Indie Chic Ginger' line.  Since I am also entering this into the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club, all of the stamps and dies are from My Favorite Things!  Below is the sketch for this week and you can see I turned it to fit my sentiment.  I also added some bling (of course) and a sweet little button created from the MFT Hexagon die and a bit of golden twine.

The inside features more of these versatile hexagons and a nice big space for me to write my gratitude for such a neighborly gesture! It's always such a relief to know your neighbors are friendly and I hope this is a relationship that flourishes!

Now on to my next Thank You.  This is my 100th post as a blogger!  It has had its highs and lows (fellow bloggers know...) but has been such a creative outlet for me and an inspiration to continually create and find new ways to show my love of this craft.  I want to thank all of my followers; The 'oldies' that have been with me for a while and the 'newbies' that have just started to follow my fabulous blog :) As a small token of my gratitude, I have a little blog candy to give away just in time for Valentine's Day!  All you have to do is be a follower (sign up today!) and leave me a comment on this post.  That's it!  The deadline is Sunday, January 13th and I will pick one lucky reader on the 14th to win this lovely little prize!

Here are the products used for this project:
