Easter Treats!

Hi everyone! I have one more Easter project to squeeze in before the holiday and it's a cute one! After  I made my pretty egg container, I still had lots of the beautiful Simple Stories 'Happy Easter' collection left and couldn't resist making these sweet little treat baskets!

I knew I wanted the baskets to hold the treats upright so I  die cut small circles into a piece of the patterned paper just big enough for the egg or treat to sit in. This patterned paper was adhered to some heavy duty card stock that had been scored into a top and two dies. All of the other pretty papers are adhered to this and the basket is nice and sturdy!

Each of the baskets uses a variety of the pattern papers and they mix so beautifully together! I gave the egg basket a charming scalloped edge along with a sweet egg banner sticker and a cute bunny tag. I added in one tiny flower gem for a bit of shine!

The basket for the chocolate carrots is lovely in the toile printed paper and is accented with sweet stripes and polka dots. I added lots of the flower stickers  to the front along with a cheery yellow bunny and bright sequins. More cuteness was added with the tag made from one of the stickers!

Wishing you all a very happy Easter!

Happy Easter Egg!

Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying these first few days of Spring! Easter will soon be here and I'm here to give you a bit of inspiration for an adorable Easter gift or decoration!

Easter is all about the eggs right?! And you might as well make it big or go home! This lovely box is an SVGcuts file and it is super cute and super easy to make. This box is in two pieces- a bottom half and a lid that lifts off. I cut the base of each piece in heavy card stock because I knew it would be holding candy. Then I used the beautiful 'Happy Easter' paper collection from Simple Stories to really jazz it up!

The colors and patterns in this collection are soft and beautiful and such an interesting mix of gorgeous patterns- perfect for this wonderful holiday! I opted to use three of the patterns-a lovely toile, a soft leaf print and a happy stripe! They all go together gorgeously!

Once I had the egg put together and covered with the pretty patterns, I made a tag layering a couple of the stickers included in the collection with more of the patterned paper.   This was added to the top of the egg along with a pretty flower sticker and cascading paper curls. Cabbage ribbon was put around the edge of the top piece, tied in a lovely bow and topped off with a couple more of the charming stickers!

This egg stands about 7 inches tall and can hold a lot of Easter sweets or even a small gift. This would look wonderful as an Easter centerpiece or it would definitely make someone smile  on Easter morning!

Lift My Spirits!

Hi everyone! Spring is here and so are lighter and brighter color combinations! This one for the new Color Throwdown #485 is one of my favorites too! I took it as more of a pink instead of peach because I think pink and black look so awesome together!

These lovely hot air balloons are colored with pink toned Copic markers with a few black highlights. I also added in glitter to some areas for pretty shine! The clouds are die cut and have just a blush of pink around the edges.

All of the pieces are stacked at different heights using a combination of card stock and foam adhesive. This gives me a bit of room to tuck in some shiny sequins and gives the card great dimension! The sweet sentiment is stamped in black.

Crafty Girl Sewing Jar!

Hi everyone! I'm all about practical gifts that look amazing too! Case in point, this sweet jar full of sewing supplies that is decorated with the fabulous 'Crafty Girl' paper collection from Simple Stories! We all have friends that would love this simple, useful and adorable present.

The jar is from Amazon and is plastic so it's very light and non-breakable which is always a plus! I started by covering the top of the jar with a fun pattern and then added the sweet scalloped sticker around the edge. More embellishments with the Bits & Pieces and stickers were incorporated for a seriously cute look!

The notions paper around the jar is one of my all time favorites- it is so stinking' cute! I layered it with another pattern and simply glued it together at the ends. Lots of stickers, chipboard and more Bits & Pieces were layered together to create the wonderful centerpiece of the jar. Perfect for a sewing newbie or even an expert that needs a cute decoration for their sewing room!

In keeping with the sewing supplies theme, I even created some designs for the inside of the jar as well! There is an adorable needle holder that not only keeps needles organized but looks great too, and I couldn't resist making some buttons from the charming patterned paper!

Amazing You!

Hi everyone! It's almost St. Patrick's Day so the color combo for the new Color Throwdown Challenge #484 fits perfectly! I made a clean and simple card that is striking with it's watercolors and simple die-cuts!

I started with some Tim Holtz woodgrain watercolor paper which has amazing detail! I did some ink smooshing using a variety of purple distress inks and then added a few splatters with a paint brush. Once the ink was dry I added a light cover of Nuvo glitter pen to most of thea areas of ink.

I stuck with leafy die-cuts to mimic the greenery in the inspiration pic and used three different green papers- one solid and two patterned. I also added in a bit of the patterned paper to the side of the background along with a tinny strip of deep purple. Some sparkly clear silvery sequins add just a bit of shine!

Lucky Charm!

Hi everyone! We will soon be celebrating all things Irish!  Of course I have a sweet card to commemorate the occasion!

I had some scraps left over from my treat topper project using the Simple Stories 'St. Patricks Day' paper collection and put them together for this lovely layered card. I used one of the 4x6 journaling cards for my background and then added in a shiny gold dolly.

The next step was to add in more dimension with charming stickers from the collection. Some of the stickers  were popped up with foam tape so I could tuck tiny gold sequins behind them. I finished the card by adding  more of the beautiful patterned paper to the inside of the card along with a couple of heart stickers!

Let's Get Crafty!

Hi everyone! If you're reading this blog, chances are you are a crafty person and Simple Stories has come up with the most adorable paper collection to celebrate this way of life! It is full of ridiculously cute icons and embellishments not to mention the super punny ( and funny) sentiments!

It is also the perfect paper collection for hosting your very own crafty party! What could be better than getting together with your friends and making pretty things? Adding in the cutest invitations and decorations, I say!

The invitations were printed on heavy card stock in colors that would complement the collection.  I then layered those over two different pieces of the lovely patterned papers. I added in a couple of the stickers from the 4x6 pad on each of the invites and then topped the whole thing off with a decorative band that is embellished with images from the Bits & Pieces along with chipboard stickers and the collection stickers. So stinking' cute!

To top off the darling invitations, I used a Spellbinders basket die to make these delightful sewing baskets as party favors! Each was cut from more of the adorable patterned paper and then trimmed and adorned with more of the charming icon stickers. Each basket holds a bit of twine, buttons, a glue stick and some washi tape- everything your guests need to get their craft on! I even tucked in some chocolate of course.

Run, don't walk, to your nearest craft store to pick up this collection! You will literally swoon over its cuteness!

Sweet Romance Cards!

Hi everyone! I don't know if you are like me but I hate to throw away even small scraps of a paper collection that I love unless I feel like I really did a lot with it. Case in point, I had some pieces left of the Simple Stories 'Romance' collection and wanted to use them because they are so beautiful!

This is actually a Valentine's Day collection but that holiday was long over and I still had the paper so I put the scraps together with some of the stickers I had left and made some very pretty occasion cards! I never have enough Thank You or Birthday cards so these will be wonderful to have on hand!

I love layering on my cards and with coordinating papers it's so easy to make a stunning card by die-cutting the scraps and putting them together! For this birthday card I took some of the collection 'bits & pieces' and added those to the patterned papers. The sentiment is stamped in black and I added some iridescent flower sequins for shine!

The Thank You card features more of the patterned paper die cut into shapes and layered with lovely flower and butterfly stickers and chipboard. I did add foam adhesive to parts of this card for a dimensional look and to have a few areas to tuck in pretty green sequins!
