Homage to Ombre!

Hi everyone!  Some of you may recognize this card but right after I created it, Moxie Fab World came out with a Tuesday Trigger honoring ombre and I thought this card would be perfect so I am giving it a place of honor with it's very own post!
Here is a picture of the Tuesday Trigger photo (looks yummy AND gorgeous) to inspire our ombre creations.
These adorable flip flops were created with an interesting staining technique that I learned at the 2013 Papertrey Ink Stamp-a-faire.  These might look like regular felt and canvas flip flops but they are all actually stained with Kool-aid! Who knew? I used cherry, watermelon, peach and lemonade. Not only are the colors nice and vibrant they also smelled really good!
All of the dyes were sitting on my kitchen counter with the sun shining through them and that is when my ombre inspiration was born!  I also knew I wanted to create something fun and bright with these colors and what is more fun in the summer than cute little flip flops!

Party Time!

Hi everyone! I'm still adding birthday cards to my stash - you can never have enough birthday cards on hand!  Two more to share with you today and these are both bright and fun!

The first card is all about the party!  All of the designer paper and festive stickers are from the Bella Blvd. 'Socialite' line.  I cut some of the paper into a tag and layered that on the front of the card with the adorable dancing dress and glass of wine.  Sequined trim and a big birthday sentiment show the fun in this card!

Since the front of the card is so bold and festive, I decided to keep the inside pretty quiet with simple strips of the bright and happy paper and lots of space to write a message to the lucky party girl!

The next card is still bright and happy but in a more understated way.  Red and black is one of my favorite color combos and the small touches of blue add a sweet touch.

I dressed up the sentiment with an embossed background a delightful layered flower, a vine border and bright ribbon.

For the inside of the card, I added a few of the same accents from the front and a very heartfelt sentiment.

Pastel Birthday Cards!

Hi everyone!  A lot of birthday cards use bold and bright colors to convey the excitement and happiness of the special day.  I wanted to create some softer, definitely girly, birthday cards that would still convey happiness and birthday joy for the recipient.

This first card uses lots of bold patterns in softer tones and then I added flowers, a doily and a glittered flourish to make it even more soft and feminine.  Of course, I added some gems for extra sparkle!

The inside has a simple sentiment along with another pretty flower.

This next card is definitely girly with all of its layered lace borders and tiny flowered background.  All of the pink birthday sentiments and doubled pink ribbon add to the sweetness.  This card will be perfect for a young lady.

I added a few more lace borders on the inside and a sentiment to help celebrate the blowing out of birthday candles!

My Stamp -a- faire 2013

Hi all!  A quick post today to show my contributions to Papertrey Inks' Stamp -a- faire 2013!  I had a super busy weekend but squeezed in some time to make a couple of cards.

The first is from one of the gorgeous SAF color combinations combined with one of the sketches.  I love this bright and cheery color combo and I used both dry and wet embossing along with some die cuts.

The second card I created uses a new technique for me which is rolling paper clay between two sheets of vellum and then pulling them apart.  I tried this with both solid and printed vellum.

This technique gives such an interesting texture to the die-cut flowers and leaves

That's it for my SAF creations!  I plan on trying more of the projects so check back later for another blog post!

Birthday Wish!

Hi everyone!  I have been on a birthday creation kick recently.  My birthday card stash was getting really low (i.e non-existent) so I have been trying to  increase my stash and today is one of the new additions!

This little gift card set is so bright and happy.  I love the color combo of yellow and black and with this set I added lots of my fave polka dots.  Plus, I used my new Papertrey Ink Tiny Triangles stamp set to add a bit of interesting flair!

I cut the envelope with my Cricut and there is some trendy chevron card stock peeking out of the top.  On the front I layered lots of gorgeous Teresa Collins designer paper with some gingham ribbon, a couple of pearls and those adorable trendy triangles.

Here is a close up of the sweet tiny tags.  The metal heart clip is from Stampin Up!

The little card fits perfectly into the envelope and has more cute borders, tags and triangles.

There is still room enough to write my own personal birthday wishes inside!
