Hi everyone! I finally had the chance to play with my new 'City Scene' stamp set from Papertrey Ink and oh what fun it was! I set out with the goal of creating a birthday card for my mom so I have two cards done in shades of purple- her favorite color. Plus she used to travel to New York City quite frequently and I knew she would get a kick out of this sweet little scene.
Since her birthday is in December, I wanted to keep the scene wintery but colorful. I left the trees bare and added some twinkling lights. I then stamped the 'snow' in glue and covered it with glitter for sparkle! Of course I had to add in the Empire State building and a taxi cab- the only thing missing is the incessant horn honking!

On the inside I added another tower (in purple of course) and a beautiful sentiment for the sweetest lady in my life!
For my second card, I wanted to play around with watercolors. I stamped the images in distress ink and then colored them in with watered down ink pads adding in extra color around the buildings. With that finished, I wasn't quite sure what else I wanted to do with the card so I set it aside for a few days. Then, lo and behold, PTI was having a Make It Monday Challenge with Whimsy Modern Style which is right up my alley! I simply added some great little layers and a charming sentiment and voila, a great card was was born!
